Every year The War Horse publishes reflections about September 11, 2001 and its aftermath.
This year, 2017, the inaugural class of War Horse Writing Fellows visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at Ground Zero.
The veterans and military family members reflected on their visit to the museum and on the day that kickstarted the United States' longest war.
In 2016, The War Horse published 15 stories by 15 writers, including a Medal of Honor recipient, a handful of veterans, a couple civilians, and a military spouse.
These are their stories.
